For Parents of Young Chess Players

There are many websites where children can learn about and play chess, but there are no websites for chess parents.  If your younger children play chess or would like to learn, this website is for you.

“Chess for children is really about life and how to live it. Humility as a winner, persistence when losing, and learning from your mistakes are virtues children should learn early… and that takes practice, practice, practice.”

You can help your child grow and learn in a surprising number of ways by playing chess with them.  I learned this from personal experience.  My 15-year old daughter… who stays on the honor roll, plays several varsity sports (she’s a rising star), and is very well-rounded with very nice friends… started playing chess at the age of three.

This site will contain answers to scores of questions I’ve received from parents over the years. As well as guides to the best chess gear for young players and other educational resources.

Bear with me just a bit longer, as I do have a full-time career.  Teaching chess is something I do as a sideline, both volunteer and paid.  I wish I could teach kids chess full time… maybe one day soon.
